24th Annual Dog Olympics (2015) Date TBA!

 

General Info

 

Dog Olympics is a charitable event that celebrates the human-animal bond and raises money for local animal rescue groups.

 

Planning is underway for the event this year, so details are still tentative, but in previous years competitions have included Rollover Rover, Musical Sit, Longest Tail, Limbo, Frisbee Toss, Howling Contest, Look-a-Like, Best Trick, Best Beggar, and High Jump. There is also a special Frisbee Toss event that will be brought back for this year's event!

 

Demonstrations in the past have included the Raleigh K9 Unit, AKC Agility and Canine Good Citizen Testing, and Flyball performances by Go Dog Go and Dog Gone Fast. The Paralympics focuses on the bond owners of paraplegic dogs have with their pets and the special activity is a “Best Decorated Cart” competition.

 

An Olympic Village will feature rescue groups and shelters, canine health information booths including the CVM Rehabilitation Service, the CVM Seizure Studies Program, NCSU Libraries and vendors offering canine-related goods and services. Refreshements will include Port City Java, Big Mike's BBQ Food Truck, Dang Good Dogs Food Truck, Pelican's SnoBalls and a bake sale.

 

The event will be held on the “hearth” and Wellness Parking Lot of the NC State Centennial Biomedical Campus located at 1060 William Moore Drive in Raleigh near the intersection of Hillsborough Street and Blue Ridge Highway.The rain date is Oct. 4.
